Designed for private lesson teachers, musicians who want to learn more about the care and maintenance of their instruments, and for those exploring if becoming a master repair technician is a career option.

Level 1 Clarinet Class is held on Saturdays for 90 minutes from 11am-12:30 pm MT.  Level 1 is a 3 month course.

The Clarinet Level 1 Course is co-taught by master technicians Bruce Marking, formerly with Buffet-Crampon.

Clarinet:

Clarinet 1-2023 April 15-July 1, 2023 11-12:30pm MT 2 private lessons will be substituted for class days (TBD)

Clarinet 1- 2023 July 8-Sept 23, 2023 11-12:30pm MT 2 private lessons will be substituted for class days (TBD)

 

All classes will be recorded and be made available to you. Following the purchase of the course, we will send you details to register for it on Zoom. Enrollment is limited and when we run out of Level 1 kits this course will be closed for registration.

From Home Depot or your local hardware store you will need to purchase:

Razor Blades – single edge blades
Denatured Alcohol – 1 can
Q-Tips – 1 large package
DAP Weldwood Contact Cement- 1 container
Small soft paintbrush or toothbrush (bristles don’t matter) – flat bristled brush
Emery cloth  – 240 grit (for sanding tenon corks)
Emery board – pack of 10, or similar (for sanding key corks)
Cigarette paper – OCB un-gummed, or any brand with gummed edge cut off

 

The rest of the items we will provide in our Clarinet Level 1 Kit  which includes:

PADS
10 – 8.5mm Valentino Greenback White pads

 

4 – 11mm Valentino Greenback White pads

2 -14mm Valentino Greenback White pads

6 -15.5mm Valentino Greenback White pads

10 – 8.5mm Cork pads

KEY OIL – 1 bottle
GLUE- Hot melt glue – 4 pieces
ALCOHOL LAMP
SCREWDRIVERS

 

-2 mm for hinge rods

-3 mm for pivot screws

PAD SLICK
PLIERS
SHEET CORK 1/16 for tenon and key corks – 1 sheet
STEEL RULE (in millimeters)
CLARINET ASSEMBLY BOARD

 

Last but not least, you will need to come with your own instrument to work on!
