Designed for private lesson teachers, musicians who want to learn more about the care and maintenance of their instruments, and for those exploring if becoming a master repair technician is a career option.

Level 1 Saxophone Class is held on Saturdays for 90 minutes from 9:00am-10:30am MT.  Level 1 is a 3-month course.

All classes will be recorded and be made available to you. Following the purchase of the course, we will send you details to register on Zoom for it. Enrollment is limited and when we run out of Level 1 kits this course will be closed for registration.

The Saxophone Level 1 Course is co-taught by master technicians Bruce Marking, formerly with Buffet-Crampon/Keilwerth Saxophones.

Saxophone:

Saxophone 1-2023 Sept 9-Dec 2, 2023 9-10:30am MT 2 private lessons will be substituted for class days (TBD)

Saxophone 2 2023 Nov 12, 22- April 22, 23 9-10:30am MT 4 private lessons will be substituted for class days (TBD)


Items included in our Saxophone Level 1 Course Kit:

(1) 5″ Flat-nose pliers for pulling rods/screws
Screwdrivers

 

  • (1) 2mm Westward slotted screwdriver (for saxophone rods)
  • (1) 3mm Wiha slotted screwdriver (for pivot screws)
(1) Spring hook
(1) Hetman light key oil
(1) Saxophone assembly board
(1) Sheet cork (1/16″)
(1) Natural sheet cork assortment (all 6 thicknesses)
(1) Steel ruler in millimeters
(5) Saxophone felt bumpers, 5/16″ x 3/6″, white
(5) Saxophone felt disks, 1/2″ x 1/16″, white
(5) Saxophone felt disks, 1/16″, red
(5) Saxophone felt bumpers, 1/4″, red
(5) Saxophone felt bumpers, 3/8″, red

From Home Depot or your local hardware store you will need to purchase:

Razor Blades – single edge blades
Q-Tips – 1 large package

 

DAP Weldwood Contact Cement- 1 container

Denatured alcohol – 1 can
Butane – 1 can
Micro butane torch
Small soft paintbrush or toothbrush (bristles don’t matter) – flat bristled brush
Emery cloth  – 240 grit (for sanding neck corks)
Cigarette paper (OCB un-gummed, or any brand with gummed edge cut off)

Last but not least, you will need to come with your own instrument to work on!
